Chapter 5 · Workflows

5.4Layered Outfits

To simulate an outfit of layered garments:

  1. Select every garment of the outfit and add one Tnpix Solver to the selection, so they share one instance and form one Solver group. Do the same with Gravity, Collision and Self Collision.
  2. On the Self Collision panel, check that Enable self collision is on; a new Self Collision starts with it on. Every garment appears in the Garments this solver owns list.
  3. Turn on Layer ordering and give the inner garment a lower layer number than the outer one: shirt 0, jacket 1, coat 2.
  4. Play. The lower layer holds its shape and the upper one moves around it. Raise hold strength if the order does not hold.
  • The friction between two layers is the top garment's; garments on the same layer average theirs. Give a garment its own friction or thickness in its cell of the list.
  • Two garments on the same layer are treated equally; neither dominates.
  • Layer ordering works under every Self Collision mode.
