2.7Units and Scale
TenPix Cloth works in your scene's system unit (Customize ▸ Units Setup ▸ System Unit Setup). Every length you type is in system units: collider thickness, self-collision thickness, contact give, stitch search distance and offset, pin reach, volume pressure, wrap distance, and the threads' spacing, length, bending length and thickness. Gravity is in system units per second squared. The conversion happens where values enter and leave the solver, so you never convert by hand.
A new modifier expresses its length defaults in the scene's unit. A new Tnpix Gravity pulls with Earth gravity: −386.22 in an inch scene, −981 in a centimetre scene, −9.81 in a metre scene. The default collider thickness, self-collision thickness and stitch search distance are converted the same way. A saved scene keeps the values it was saved with.
- The Tear threshold is not a length. It is a strength that you set by reading the Tear status line.
- The Garment edge length and the Post Process thickness are measured on the mesh itself, in the mesh's own units.
A few labels and tooltips name inches, such as (in) or (in/s2). They describe an inch scene; in a scene with another system unit, read them in that unit.
Model garments at real-world size. The stock fabrics describe real cloth, and a garment modelled ten times too large behaves like a much larger, heavier piece of cloth.
