Chapter 2 · Concepts
2.1The TenPix Modifiers
TenPix Cloth adds twenty modifiers to the Modifier List. One of them, Tnpix Solver, runs the simulation. The others describe the cloth, the scene around it and what happens to the result.
| Modifier | What it does | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Tnpix Solver | Runs the simulation for every object that carries it; sets quality and collision system. | Top of the stack (recommended) |
| Tnpix Garment | Rebuilds the mesh into even triangles, or re-surfaces it from a volume. | Bottom of the stack |
| Tnpix Gravity | Gravity for the simulation. | Anywhere; share one instance |
| Tnpix Forces | Drives the cloth with 3ds Max space warps such as Wind. | Anywhere; one instance shared, or one per garment |
| Tnpix Collision | The list of objects the cloth collides with, each with its own settings. | Anywhere; share one instance |
| Tnpix Self Collision | Cloth against itself and against the other garments of the simulation; layers. | Anywhere; share one instance |
| Tnpix Material Standard | The fabric: everyday dials and twelve stock fabrics. | Anywhere; one per fabric |
| Tnpix Material Advanced | The fabric: the full fabric model. | Anywhere; one per fabric |
| Tnpix Channel | Painted, named weight maps; the tear brush. | Above Tnpix Garment |
| Tnpix Pin | Holds a painted region in place or makes it follow an object. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Preserve | Makes a painted region follow the animation below the Solver (a Skin, any deformer) instead of simulating it. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Stitch | Sews painted points to another garment or to the cloth's own folded parts. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Tear | Lets the cloth tear by painted region, by stretch or by pressure. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Volume | Gives a closed shell, or a painted region of a body, an inside: keeps its volume, inflates it or floats it. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Rigid | Makes painted regions or mesh elements solid pieces inside the cloth. | Anywhere |
| Tnpix Soft Body | Turns a closed object into soft flesh: fat, jelly, rubber, or a muscle with fibres (experimental). | Below the Solver |
| Tnpix Cache | Saves the simulation to a file and plays it back, with retime and posterize. | Above the Solver |
| Tnpix Post Process | Smooths the simulated surface (Delta Mush) and pushes crossing cloth apart. | Above the Solver |
| Tnpix Threads | Warp and weft threads where the cloth tears and along painted hems, simulated after each cloth frame. | Directly above the Solver |
| Tnpix Wrap | Makes a high-resolution mesh follow simulated low-resolution proxies. | On the high-resolution object |
