Chapter 4 · The TenPix Toolbar
4.5Tearing Sample
Builds a complete tearing scene from ordinary objects and modifiers: a grid whose left and right edges are pinned to two boxes, a tear band painted down its middle, and the boxes keyed to move apart. Click Play and the cloth rips along the band.
- Width / Height / Segments across / Segments down Default 100 / 60 / 60 / 36
- The grid's size in scene units and its segments. More segments give finer tear edges and a slower solve.
- They pull apart by Default 40 / From frame Default 10 / To frame Default 60
- How far apart the two boxes move in total (each moves half), and when.
- Band width (down the middle) Default 4
- How wide the painted tear band is. The cloth can rip only inside it.
- Tear threshold Default 20
- How strong a seam is: lower tears sooner and more. On the default grid, 10 rips under the grid's own weight before the boxes move; 20 rips during the pull.
- Build the sample
- Creates the grid TearSample with Tnpix Channel (maps pinL, pinR and tear), two Tnpix Pin modifiers following BoxLeft and BoxRight, Tnpix Tear by Map on the tear map, Tnpix Gravity and Tnpix Solver. Every part is yours to change afterwards.
